Trevor Manuel opens Colloquium

Mr Trevor Manuel responds to a question from the audience.

The Colloquium on Digital Finance in Africa was opened on Monday 22 October 2018 by Mr Trevor Manuel, former South African Minister of Finance.

The opening took place at the UJ Arts Centre Theatre on the Auckland Park Kingsway (APK) Campus of the University of Johannesburg.

Mr Manuel’s keynote address was followed by a panel discussion on ‘The Impact of Digital Finance on Africa’s Growth’.

The panelists were Mr Nnamdi Oranye, founder of Disrupting Africa and FinTech author; and Mr Stephen Mwaura Nduati, former head of Natonal Payment Systems at the Central Bank of Kenya, and a FinTech consultant.

The discussion was chaired by Prof Saurabh Sinha, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Internationalisation of the University of Johannesburg. A reception followed. The opening was successful and was attended by about 130 people.
